  • Joint Deutsche Bundesbank And Deutsche Börse Blockchain Prototype

    Today the Deutsche Bundesbank and Deutsche Börse jointly presented a functional prototype for the blockchain technology-based settlement of securities. The innovative prototype is designed to provide the technical functionality for the settlement of securities in delivery-versus-payment mode for centrally-issued digital coins, as well as the pure transfer of either digital coins or digital securities alone. In addition, it is capable of settling basic corporate actions such as coupon payments on securities and the redemption of maturing securities.

  • EEX Registers First Trade In EUA Options

    The European Energy Exchange (EEX) has registered its first trade in EUA options. The trade was registered in the December 2016 expiry period with a volume of 250,000 EUAs. The trade was conducted by CEZ a.s. and another counterparty on 25th November and was registered through brokerage firm Evolution Markets Ltd.

  • Swinburne: Central Counterparties Legislation Must Not Pass On Risk To European Investors

    Today the European Commission released legislation concerning recovery and resolution of Central Counterparties (CCPs).

    Following the post-crisis G20 commitment in 2010 by Heads of Government to centrally clear derivative products, this legislation looks to address the systemic risk created by concentrating risk into clearing houses.
