Dubai International Financial Centre Honours Sacrifice Of UAE Soldiers

The flag of the United Arab Emirates was officially lowered over the Dubai International Financial Centre this morning, in line with other government and semi-government entities, to mark the UAE Commemoration Day. The international financial centre’s 1,500 companies and 21,000 workers took a moment to reflect on the ultimate sacrifices made in the name of the country, its values and principles through a minute’s silence at 11:30am followed by the National Anthem.

JPX: Launch Of Consortium And Proof Of Concept Testing For Capital Market Infrastructure Utilizing Blockchain Technology

Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc. (TSE) is pleased to announce that TSE, Osaka Exchange, Inc. (OSE) and Japan Securities Clearing Corporation (JSCC) (JPX group companies) will form a consortium of Japanese financial institutions to continue to conduct proof of concept (PoC) testing based on past findings and discuss the possibility of applying blockchain or distributed ledger technology (DLT *1) to capital market infrastructure both from technical and operational perspectives.

Signing Of Bilateral Local Currency Swap Agreement Between Singapore And Japan

The Monetary Authority of Singapore and the Bank of Japan today announced the establishment of a bilateral local currency swap agreement. This agreement allows for the exchange of local currencies between the two central banks of up to SGD 15 billion or JPY 1.1 trillion. It will enable MAS to provide Japanese Yen liquidity to eligible Singapore financial institutions in support of their cross-border operations.

The Market Misconduct Tribunal (MMT) today fined AcrossAsia Limited (AcrossAsia) $600,000, its former chairman Mr Albert Saychuan Cheok $800,000, and chief executive officer Mr Vicente Binalhay Ang $600,000 after finding they had failed to disclose inside information to the public as soon as reasonably practicable as required under the Securities and Futures Ordinance (SFO).
