What is the European System of Financial Supervision?
The European System of Financial Supervision (ESFS) was set up in November 2010 in the wake of the financial crisis following the recommendations of a group of high-level experts led by Jacques de Larosière. This system was created to strengthen financial supervision, better protect European citizens and ultimately rebuild trust in the EU financial system.

EEX Trading Results For March 2019 - EEX: Freight Volumes Reach All-Time High, Power Volumes Increase By 57%

In March 2019, the European Energy Exchange (EEX) increased volumes on its power derivatives markets by 57% to 348.3 TWh (March 2018: 222.4 TWh). In particular, the German Phelix-DE product (234.6 TWh, +75%) as well as the Italian market (56.7 TWh, +58%) contributed to this development. Furthermore, volumes on the markets for Austria (1.4 TWh), Spain (11.9 TWh) and Central/South-Eastern Europe (13.1 TWh) also increased significantly.

CME Group, the world's leading and most diverse derivatives marketplace, and the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI) announced its eleventh Innovative Quantitative Applications Prize recipient. Albert Kyle, Charles E. Smith Chair Professor of Finance at the University of Maryland is the 2018 CME Group-MSRI Prize winner for his work in market microstructure. A ceremony honoring Kyle will take place at the Chicago Cultural Center on Monday, April 8, at 9:30 a.m. CT.

In March 2019, EEX additionally admitted BCM Energy SAS (Lyon) for trading in futures and options on emission rights and Marex Financial Limited (London) for trading in agricultural products. Alpherg S.p.A. (Milan) was admitted as trading participant for the derivatives and the spot market. UBS Europe SE (Frankfurt am Main) was admitted to the derivatives market for emission rights as well as agricultural and power products.
