  • EBA Shows That Efforts To Improve EU Banks’ Asset Quality Have Proven Successful But Pockets Of Risks Remain

    The European Banking Authority (EBA) published today a Report on trends in asset quality of the EU banking sector, which show it has significantly improved over the last four years. Total non-performing loans (NPLs) decreased from over EUR 1.15 trillion in June 2015 (6% as a percentage of total loans) to EUR 636 billion as of June 2019. The NPL ratio declined to 3%, the lowest ratio since the EBA introduced a harmonised definition of NPLs across European countries. The average coverage ratio slightly increased from 43.6% to 44.9% over the same period.

  • ECC: Mizuho Becomes New General Clearing Member And Trading Participant

    The European Commodity Clearing (ECC) welcomes Mizuho Americas’ investment banking subsidiary Mizuho Securities USA LLC as a new General Clearing Member (GCM) and as Trading Participant on the European Energy Exchange (EEX). As a GCM, the bank is now authorised to provide clearing services for all customers of EEX Group’s clearing house as well as for all products and markets cleared by ECC.

    On 7 November 2019, the Third China-Bangladesh Connecting Symposium for Capital Markets, jointly organized by Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZSE) and Dhaka Stock Exchange of Bangladesh (DSE), was held in Shenzhen successfully. Focusing on the Belt and Road Initiative and Digital Bangladesh Vision 2021, in-depth discussions on topics such as China-Bangladesh financial market cooperation and investment opportunities in Bangladesh were carried out along with roadshow activities of characteristic Bengali enterprises, in order to promote regular cooperation between capital markets of the two countries. SZSE President & CEO Wang Jianjun and DSE President Abul Hashem attended the event and delivered speeches. Other participants included nearly 170 representatives from stock exchanges, investment institutions, listed companies, financial enterprises, etc. of both countries.
