Singapore Exchange To Launch STI Futures

The Singapore Exchange Derivatives Trading Limited (SGX-DT) and SPH Data Services Pte Ltd (SPHDS) announced today that SGX-DT has been granted a licence by SPHDS to create and trade futures and options contracts based on the Straits Times Index (STI). The SGX STI futures contract will be launched on 28 June 2000, while the STI options contract may be listed later in the year.
NYMEX To Decrease Palladium Futures Margins

The New York Mercantile Exchange will decrease the margins on its palladium futures contracts at the close of business today for July 2000 and beyond. The initial margins will be lowered to $5,000 from $15,000 for clearing members; to $5,500 from $16,500 for members; and to $6,750 from $20,250 for customers.
Nasdaq Europe Ltd. Announces A Joint Venture With The Combined London Stock Exchange and Deutsche Börse To Provide A Globally Linked, Pan-European Trading Platform For New Economy Companies

Nasdaq Europe Ltd. today announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding for the formation of a joint venture with iX (comprised of the London Stock Exchange and the Deutsche Börse) to provide for a wide ranging, globally linked pan-European market for the listing and trading of initial public offerings, US and Asian and other international securities and "new economy" stocks from all across Europe.
London Stock Exchange And Deutsche Börse To Merge To Create iX - Agreement With Nasdaq To Create A High Growth Market

London Stock Exchange and Deutsche Börse today announce their plans for a merger of equals to create a new company, to be called iX. In addition, iX and Nasdaq have signed a memorandum of understanding to create a pan-European, high growth market.
London Metal Exchange April Volume

The London Metal Exchange traded a total of 5,388,860 lots in April. This figure was made up of 5,029,987 lots of futures, 349,743 lots of options and 9,130 lots of TAPOs. The new LMEX contract traded 4.,451 lots of futures.

Central Bank Of Iceland Weekly Repo Auction 2/5 2000

The Central Bank of Iceland held a weekly auction of repurchase agreements on May 2 of the standard maturity of 14 days. The auction was a fixed rate one at 10.1 per cent p.a. Offers were made for a total amount of 19.3 billion krónur resulting in repurchase contracts for that amount.

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) announced today trading volume of 19,155,133 contracts for April 2000. The Mercado a Término de Buenos Aires (Buenos Aires Futures Exchange) traded 22,499 contracts in April 2000 compared to a figure of 20,843 contracts in April 1999. Total volume for the first four months of 2000 was 86,032 contracts, compared to 80,580 contracts in 1999.
TSE Daily Trading Tops $15 Billion

The value of trading at the TSE today topped $15 billion for the first time ever-more than doubling the previous record of $6.6 billion, set on April 4, 2000.
Stefhan Klang Appointed President Of OM XACT Fonder

On June 1 Stefhan Klang will take up the position as President of OM XACT Fonder AB, a subsidiary of OM Gruppen within the Transaction business area. OM XACT Fonder is a newly formed company aimed at marketing and passively managing exchange-traded funds. The company has filed an application with the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority (Finansinspektionen) for authorisation to provide fund management services. During the last year Stefhan Klang, who is 44 years old, has been working as Pres
