Eurex Trading Volume Up 9 Percent In October To 119 Million Contracts - Equity-Based Derivatives Again More Heavily Traded Than Fixed-Income Derivatives

A total of approximately 119 million derivative contracts were traded on Eurex, the world's largest derivatives exchange, in October. This represents a nine percent increase on the previous year (October 2005: 109 million contracts). The total number of contracts traded on Eurex to date in 2006 is 1.29 billion contracts, an increase of approximately 23 percent on the same period in 2005. Average daily trading volume at Eurex currently stands at 6 million contracts.
Deutsche Börse: Equities Turnover Up By 21 Percent Year-On-Year In October - Xetra Transactions Up By Almost 25 Percent

According to order book statistics, trading volume on German stock exchanges in October increased year-on-year by around 23 percent to €157.7 billion (October 2005: €128.2 billion). Equities turnover showed strong growth of 21 percent to €145.5 billion (October 2005: €119.3 billion). €135.6 billion was attributable to German equities and €9.9 billion to foreign equities.

Winnipeg Commodity Exchange Inc. ("WCE") total volume of trade for October 2006 reached the highest level for that month in any year. It is also the second highest volume reached in any month. A total of 328,751 futures and options contracts were traded during the month, which is 48.1% higher than a year ago and 36.5% higher than a month ago.
