    Standard & Poor's Canadian Index Operations announces the following index changes: The shareholders of Peru Copper Inc. (TSX:PCR) have accepted the $CDN6.60 cash per share offer from Aluminum Corp. of China (Chinalco - Shenzen:601600). As a result, Peru Copper Inc. will be removed from the S&P/TSX SmallCap and Equity SmallCap Indices effective after the close on Thursday, August 2, 2007.

    BM&F ended the month of July with an 81% increase in traded volume in comparison to the same period last year. A total of 38.45 million contracts were traded in July, against 21.24 million registered in July 2006. This past July, the average traded volume reached 1.83 million daily contracts. During the same period last year, the average traded daily volume was 1.01 million.

    Standard & Poor's will make the following changes in the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index after the close of trading on Wednesday, August 1, 2007: Dynasty Metals & Mining Inc. (TSXVN:DMM) will be removed from the index. The company will graduate to trade on the TSX under the same ticker symbol.

  • SEC Announces Distribution Of $267 Million Fair Fund To Qwest Investors Injured By Accounting Fraud

    The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced that it has started distribution of the $267 million Fair Fund created as part of settlements with Qwest Communications International Inc. and several of its former executives. The funds will be distributed to approximately 200,000 investors who purchased Qwest's securities between July 27, 1999, and July 28, 2002. The distribution process is expected to be completed within five days.
