American Stock Exchange Reports An Increase In Short Interest

The American Stock Exchange® (Amex®) member and non-member organizations today reported short interest of 1,216,359,834 shares as of the August 15, 2007 settlement date, an increase of 118,945,301 from the 1,097,414,533 (adjusted) shares reported in mid-July. The August figure represents trades through August 10, 2007.
