The Montreal Exchange Files An Application To The Autorite Des Marches Financiers

Montréal Exchange Inc. (MX) (TSX: MXX) announced today that it has filed an application to the Autorité des marchés financiers (the "Autorité") for an amendment of its recognition as a self-regulatory organization and its authorization to carry on business as an exchange. The amendment to MX's recognition order is required in the context of its proposed combination with TSX Group Inc.

Standard & Poor's will make the following changesin the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index after the close of trading on Friday, February 1, 2008: Excellon Resources Inc. (TSXVN:EXN) will be removed from the index. The company will graduate to trade on the TSX under the same ticker symbol. Protox Therapeutics Inc. (TSXVN:PRX) will be removed from the index. The company will graduate to trade on the TSX under the same ticker symbol.

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) announced today that trading volume during January rose 81% to 110,831,088 contracts, up from January 2007's volume of 61,319,060 contracts. The CBOE Futures Exchange, LLC (CFE) announced today that trading volume during January 2008 totaled 96,743 contracts, an increase of 105% over January 2007's volume of 47,121 contracts. January's average daily volume was 4,607 contracts, compared to the year-ago average daily volume of 2,356 contracts. January 2008's total volume was the fifth busiest month on record at CFE.

The Kansas City Board of Trade trading volume for the month of January was the second largest for that calendar month in the history of the exchange. Total exchange volume amounted to 352,893 contracts, an increase of 22.8 percent compared to last January and 69.5 percent compared to last month.
