American Stock Exchange Reports An Increase In Short Interest

The American Stock Exchange® (Amex®) member and non-member organizations today reported short interest of 1,240,299,202 shares as of the February 29, 2008 settlement date, an increase of 66,410,478 from the 1,173,888,724 (adjusted) shares reported on February 15, 2008. The figure represents trades through February 26, 2008.

The Dubai Financial Market (DFM) announced today that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE). The MoU will encourage listed companies in both stock markets to cross list their equities.
Dalian Commodity Exchange Sets 4 New Records Again

Dalian Commodity Exchange announced that it set four records today, trading some 4,908,142 contracts, worth 267.962 billion yuan. Soybean oil futures totalled 891,812 contracts, worth 119.721 billion yuan. It was second time that a new high was set this week.
NYMEX To Change Margins For Heating Oil, Related Futures Contracts

The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc. announced today that it will change margins for the heating oil, New York Harbor heating oil calendar swap, heating oil financial, and NYMEX miNYTM heating oil futures contracts, beginning at the close of business tomorrow.

Retail investors accounted for 60% of all information requests filed in 2007, in contrast with 50% the previous year, according to the Bolsa de Madrid Ombudsman Report 2007. "The Ombudsman is the most suitable channel through which retail investors can obtain clear and timely answers to their queries", said Carlos Fernández, Bolsa de Madrid Ombudsman during the presentation of the Report, today.

(Group One), and Jonathan Werts, Managing Director of Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith, were appointed to its board of directors. Mr. Londergan will serve as a CBOE Floor Director; and Mr. Werts will serve as an Off-Floor (industry) Director.
NYSE Proposes Listing Standards Enabling Acquisition Companies To List On Exchange - New Opportunities To Benefit Issuers And Investors In Fast-Growing Segment

NYSE Euronext (NYX) today proposed rule changes to allow the listing of Acquisition Companies (ACs) on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). The proposal, filed with and subject to approval by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, will allow ACs – companies set up to raise IPO capital for subsequent acquisitions or mergers - to list on the NYSE for the first time.
