MCX Announces New Management Responsibilities Effective From April 1, 2008

The Board of MCX has decided to promote the senior management team at MCX with effect from April 1, 2008. Accordingly, Mr. Jignesh Shah, Managing Director and CEO of MCX will now assume charge as Vice Chairman of MCX and NSEL and Mr. Joseph Massey and Mr. Anjani Sinha, both, who are original members of the three member MCX co-founding team are being promoted whereby Mr. Joseph Massey who is now the Deputy Managing Director will assume charge as Managing Director and CEO of MCX and Mr. Anjani

London Stock Exchange and Borsa Italiana: Electronic Order Book Trading Grows 33 Per Cent During March

The number of electronic equity trades carried out on the London Stock Exchange and Borsa Italiana during March 2008 averaged 1.1 million per day, an increase of 33per cent on March 2007, which at the time was a record month on both exchanges’ markets. A total of 21.2 million equity trades were carried out during the month. Despite the lower market values and the very strong comparators, the average combined daily value traded also increased, up one per cent to £13.2 billion (€16.6 billion).

On 7 April, the Warsaw Stock Exchange signed co-operation agreements with three exchange markets in Taiwan: Taiwan Futures Exchange (TAIFEX), Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSEC) and GreTai Securities Market (GTSM). It is the goal of the agreements to establish co-operation in creating conditions enabling, among others, dual listing of Taiwanese companies on the WSE, creation of exchange indices, new investment products, and mutual exchange of experience and information among the markets.
