SEC Sets Fee Rates For Fiscal Year 2009

The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced that in fiscal year 2009, the fees that public companies and other issuers pay to register their securities with the Commission will be set at $55.80 per million dollars. In addition, the fees applicable to most securities transactions will be fixed at $9.30 per million dollars.

NYMEX To Change Margins For RBOB Gasoline Futures Contracts

SEC Charges Birmingham Mayor And Friends For Undisclosed Payment Scheme In Municipal Bond Deals

The Securities and Exchange Commission today charged Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford and two of his friends in connection with undisclosed payments to Langford related to municipal bond offerings and swap agreement transactions Langford directed on behalf of Jefferson County, Ala. Also charged was the Alabama broker-dealer firm that reaped millions of dollars in fees from the deals.

The General Meeting also agrees to pay a €84.9 million final dividend. Both dividends, which represent a combined €132.5 million, will be distributed in May. The Company’s pay-out stands at 82%, among the highest in the industry worldwide. BME has distributed over €700 million since its creation, five years ago. Bolsas y Mercados Españoles posted a net profit of €201.13 million in 2007, a year-over-year increase of 54.1%.

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced that it obtained a default judgment order against the Lake Shore Group of Companies Inc., Ltd., 12 commodity pools operating under variations of the name Lake Shore Alternative Financial Asset Account (or Fund), and Hanford Investments Ltd. (collectively the default defendants), which permanently prohibits them from further fraudulent conduct and from trading commodity futures.
