BM&F BOVESPA Contracts NYSE Euronext To Upgrade Its Electronic Trading Platform For Equities Markets

NYSE Euronext (NYX) and BM&F BOVESPA announced that NYSE Euronext Advanced Trading Solutions, the commercial technology unit of NYSE Euronext, has been contracted to develop and implement an upgrade of the electronic cash equity and options trading platforms. The NSC platform, which offers world-class latency and an enhanced feature set for market participants, is expected to go live in the first quarter of 2009.

CME Group, the world's largest and most diverse derivatives exchange, today announced that October 2008 volume averaged 12.5 million contracts per day, up 13 percent from October 2007, assuming combined CME Group/NYMEX volumes. Total monthly volume exceeded 287 million contracts, 80 percent of which was traded electronically. On a combined basis, CME Group year-to-date volume through October averaged 13.7 million contracts per day, up 10 percent from the same period in 2007.

The Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) today issued a consultation paper on a Payment Systems Settlement Finality (PSSF) law that will help pave the way for the creation of a regional transaction-processing hub at the DIFC for the provision of payment systems and other ancillary services. The law means that the DIFC will follow global best practices in ensuring finality of designated payments.

Dow Jones Indexes, a leading global index provider, today announced that Bahrain, China, Egypt, India, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates will be added to the Dow Jones Islamic Market World Index and all of its sub-indexes, including the Dow Jones Islamic Market World Emerging Index and Dow Jones Islamic Market Asia/Pacific Index. The additions will become effective as of the start of trading on Monday, December 22, 2008.
