CHX Sets Second Consecutive Month Of Share And Trade Count Highs

CHX today announced that during October the Exchange established several new post Regulation NMS implementation volume records. The Exchange established a new daily trade high on October 8th with 138,395 trades while processing over two million transactions for the month, also an Exchange record. New daily share records were also reached as over 80 million shares traded on October 28th and over 1.2 billion shares were cleared through the Exchange facilities over the course of the month.

SIFMA: South Dakota Citizens Wisely Reject Short Selling Initiative

The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) today congratulated the citizens of South Dakota for rejecting initiated measure #9, which was clearly an attempt by non-state residents to manipulate the local political process for purposes largely unrelated to the state.

Chicago Climate Futures Exchange® (CCFE®), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chicago Climate Exchange, Inc. (CCX®), announced today that open interest in its futures and options complex for U.S. carbon emissions, which includes Carbon Financial Instrument® (“CFI®”) futures and options and Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (‘RGGI”) futures and options contracts reached a new record level.

Deutsche Börse AG achieved its second strongest quarter ever in terms of sales revenue and EBITA in Q3/2008. Sales revenue rose by 10 percent to €616.1 million (Q3/2007: €561.9 million), reflecting both stable revenue performance in the third quarter in the Group’s two largest business areas, Eurex and Clearstream, and the consolidation of the International Securities Exchange (ISE). The Company accrued a further €55.7 million (Q3/2007: €59.2 million) in net interest income from banking business

Martin J. Murphy Named Associate Regional Director For Examinations In SEC's Los Angeles Regional Office

The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced the promotion of Martin J. Murphy to Associate Regional Director for Examinations in the agency's Los Angeles Regional Office. Mr. Murphy will lead a staff of 65 examiners, accountants, attorneys and other professionals who conduct examinations and oversee the agency's bankruptcy program in Southern California, Arizona, Nevada and Hawaii. Mr. Murphy succeeds Rosalind Tyson, who was recently named Regional Director of the Los Angeles Office.
