Dow Jones Hedge Fund Indexes Temporarily Suspends Publication Of Various Indexes

Dow Jones Hedge Fund Indexes, Inc. (DJHFI), today announced that it will temporarily suspend publication of the Dow Jones Hedge Fund Equity Long/Short and Equity Market Neutral Strategy Benchmarks, effective November 3 until further notice. The Dow Jones Hedge Fund Balanced Portfolio Indexes (DJHFBPIs) also will be suspended.

Kansas City Board Of Trade October Volume And Open Interest

The Kansas City Board of Trade trading volume for the month of October totaled 279,507 contracts for the exchange as a whole. Hard red winter wheat futures volume amounted to 266,231 contracts.

CBOE Surpasses One-Billion-Contract Volume Year To Date And Posts All-Time Record Monthly Volume In October - During October, 134.2 Million Contracts Traded With ADV 5.8 Million Contracts

Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) today reported that year-to-date volume surpassed one billion contracts for the first time in the Exchange's history as 1.034 billion contracts changed hands through October (average daily volume of 4.9 million contracts). In addition, October was CBOE's most active month ever as 134.2 million contracts were traded versus 89.0 million in October 2007. The CBOE Futures Exchange, LLC (CFE) today announced that an average of 5,404 contracts traded each day during October 2008, a rise of 15 percent over the 4,700 contracts per day during October 2007.

Eurex Volume Up By 55 Percent In October - Trading Volume Of 226.6 Million Contracts Compared With 145.9 Million In October 2007 - ISE Turnover Of 102.0 Million Options Contracts

The international derivatives exchange Eurex traded a total of 226.6 million contracts in October (excluding ISE volume), a year-on-year increase of 55 percent (October 2007: 145.9 million contracts). The strong growth is partly attributable to the increased use of exchange-traded derivatives during the current market crisis. On a year-to-date basis, Eurex volumes rose by 18 percent achieving 1.9 billion contracts (Jan – Oct 2007: 1.6 billion contracts).

In October 2008, the number of trades executed on Xetra® reached 30.2 million transactions – up 89 percent compared to October 2007 with 16.0 million trades. Order book turnover on Xetra recorded €255.1 billion, up by 25 percent (October 2007: €203.9 billion).

SEC Conducts Regional Securities Market Enforcement Program To Address Pyramid Schemes

The Securities and Exchange Commission announced today that it conducted an Understanding and Combating Unregulated Investment Schemes seminar in Jamaica from October 29 to 31. The three-day program included intensive training on methods for investigating and prosecuting pyramid and Ponzi-type investment schemes.

BM&F BOVESPA Contracts NYSE Euronext To Upgrade Its Electronic Trading Platform For Equities Markets

NYSE Euronext (NYX) and BM&F BOVESPA announced that NYSE Euronext Advanced Trading Solutions, the commercial technology unit of NYSE Euronext, has been contracted to develop and implement an upgrade of the electronic cash equity and options trading platforms. The NSC platform, which offers world-class latency and an enhanced feature set for market participants, is expected to go live in the first quarter of 2009.
