AXER: The EU Will Need Higher LNG Imports To Refill Gas Storage Ahead Of Winter

In its Summer Supply Outlook 2026, the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG) assesses whether the EU’s gas system can meet demand, support exports and storage injections over the summer under normal market conditions. The report also includes an analysis of supplies and storage inventories to assess security of supply for winter 2026/27 and evaluates the system’s resilience under different stress scenarios, including supply disruptions.

Nodal Exchange Achieves Strong Performance In Power, Gas And Environmental Futures In The First Half Of 2026

Nodal Exchange today announced strong performance in power, environmental, and natural gas futures as of the end of June 2026. Power futures traded volume was 211 million MWh in June, up 28% from the same period in 2025. For the first half of 2026, traded volume was 1.58 billion MWh. Nodal achieved 1.506 billion MWh of open interest as of the end of June 2026 up 2% from 1.481 billion MWh at the end of June 2025. This represents $176 billion of notional value based on both sides. Nodal Exchange remains the leading power futures exchange in North America with 56% U.S. power futures open interest.

In soccer, own goals do occasionally occur, when a defending player accidentally hits the ball into his or her own net, usually under intense pressure from the opposing team. In fact, the current FIFA World Cup looks set to break the record for own goals, with 12 conceded in the group stage of the tournament alone. Unfortunately, US financial regulators are in danger of chalking up one of their own if they don’t correct a serious calibration mistake in the standardized approach for counterparty credit risk (SA-CCR), a key component of the Basel III endgame framework. This is an own goal that is entirely unforced and threatens to jeopardize liquidity and risk management in the US Treasury market. The good news is that they still have the chance to deflect the ball and implement a more appropriate SA-CCR methodology that supports the efficiency and resilience of US Treasuries.

The EBA Publishes Final Guidelines On The Authorisation Of Third-Country Branches Under The Capital Requirements Directive

The European Banking Authority (EBA) today published its final Guidelines on authorisation of third-country credit institutions to set-up a third-country branch (TCB) in a Member State. These Guidelines were mandated by the Capital Requirements Directive (CRD6) which introduced a new regime for TCBs and contribute to the harmonised access to the EU market for banking services.
