TABB Equity Digest: Q3-2017 By Valerie Bogard

With the CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) hitting its third all-time low in Oct-2017 at a monthly average close of 10.1, off-exchange market share kicked up to a seven-year high of 38.8% in Oct-2017. In terms of dark volumes trends in the third quarter, block volumes on ATSs in Sep-2017 were the highest since FINRA data became available in Aug-2016: 13.1% based on the share definition and 11.8% based on the notional definition. Auction volumes continued to increase in the third quarter and made up 6.1% of total industry volume in Oct-2017 compared with 5.7% in Oct-2016.

SEC: Former Company Insider Earns More Than $4.1 Million For Whistleblower Tip

The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced an award of more than $4.1 million to a former company insider who alerted the agency to a widespread, multi-year securities law violation and continued to provide important information and assistance throughout the SEC’s investigation. The whistleblower is the third awarded by the SEC in the past week.

- Increase of the value of trade in equities on the Electronic Order Book on the GPW Main Market by 18.7% YoY to PLN 21.4 billion
- Increase of the average daily value of trade in equities on the Electronic Order Book by 13% to PLN 1 billion
- Increase of the value of bond issues listed on Catalyst by 16.5% to PLN 93.9 billion
- Increase of the total volume of trade in electricity by 8.8% to 10.7 TWh
- Decrease of the total volume of transactions in gas by 7% YoY to 14.7 TWh
- Increase of the volume of trade in property rights to certificates of origin by 13.4% to 3.8 TWh
