    Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen today met with Governor Pan Gongsheng of the People’s Bank of China. Secretary Yellen and Governor Pan exchanged views on the macroeconomic outlook in the United States and in China. Secretary Yellen noted the continued resilience of the U.S. economy. Secretary Yellen and Governor Pan had direct and productive discussions on issues of concern. The Secretary also emphasized the importance of the world’s two largest economies working together to promote financial stability and address risks, and cooperating on global challenges, including debt distress in low-income and emerging economies. Secretary Yellen also welcomes the announcement of a new exchange between the U.S. Treasury and People’s Bank of China to deepen collaboration to counter money laundering and other forms of financial crimes, as well as the ongoing technical exchanges on financial issues, including the announcement of upcoming ones on operational resilience in the finance services sector and on financial stability implications from the insurance sector.
