EBA: Consultation On Revised Draft ITS On Mapping Solvency II (JC 2017 37)

The Joint Committee of the three European Supervisory Authorities (EBA, EIOPA and ESMA - ESAs) launched today a public consultation to amend the Implementing Regulations on the mapping of credit assessments of External Credit Assessment Institutions (ECAIs) for credit risk to reflect the recognition of five new credit rating agencies (CRAs) and the deregistration of one CRA. The Implementing Regulations are part of the EU Single Rulebook for banking and insurance aimed at creating a safe and sound regulatory framework consistently applicable across the European Union (EU). The consultation runs until 18/09/2017.

EBA Outlines Roadmap To Strengthen The Monitoring Of ECAIs

The European Banking Authority (EBA) published today its future work plan on credit assessments issued by External Credit Assessment Institutions (ECAIs). Besides its ongoing work on the mapping of ECAIs' credit assessments, the EBA plans to strengthen the monitoring and quality of such mapping used for the determination of capital requirements, which may be calculated based on the relevant credit assessments produced by the current 25 credit rating agencies (30 in the future).

EBA Amends Decision On The Quality Of Unsolicited Credit Assessments Of Certain ECAIs For The Assignment Of Risk Weights

The European Banking Authority (EBA) published today a revised Decision confirming the quality of unsolicited credit assessments assigned by certain External Credit Assessment Institutions (ECAIs) for calculating institutions' capital requirements. The revised Decision, which reflects the recognition of five additional ECAIs and the de-registering of one ECAI, is part of the Single Rulebook in banking and will ensure regulatory harmonisation across the European Union (EU) regarding the use of unsolicited credit ratings for determining institutions' own funds requirements.

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) And AUC’s School Of Business Collaborate To Improve The Representation Of Women On Corporate Boards

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) and The School of Business at The American University in Cairo (AUC) signed an MOU to capitalize on the synergies between them in supporting the Women on Boards Observatory at AUC. EGX will join the Women on Boards Consortium, established by AUC’s School of Business in 2014, with the aim of “sensitizing board members to gender issues and qualifying women for corporate board positions, as well as, advocating for policy and legislative changes to institutionalize gender diversity on corporate boards.” The consortium also includes: The Women in Business Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt, The Women and Memory Forum, and The Egyptian Corporate Responsibility Center (a project of the United Nations Development Program and the Industrial Modernization Center). The purpose of the consortium is to set up the “Women on Boards Observatory” – the first of its kind in Egypt. The observatory will primarily focus on creating the “Egyptian Board Ready Women” database, and publishing the “Annual Egyptian Women on Boards Monitoring Report”.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today announced that a federal district court has unsealed a civil CFTC Complaint with the Middle District of Florida on July 10, 2017, charging Jason B. Scharf of Valley Village, California, a worldwide web of companies he controlled, including CIT Investments LLC, a Nevada limited liability corporation; Brevspand EOOD, a Bulgarian business entity; CIT Investments Ltd., a Marshall Islands business entity; CIT Investments Ltd., an Anguillan business entity; and A & J Media Partners, Inc., a California corporation, together with affiliate marketers Michael Shah and his company Zilmil, Inc., both of Jacksonville, Florida, with unlawfully soliciting and accepting more than $16 million in connection with illegal binary options contracts. Scharf also does business as Citrades.com and AutoTrading Binary.com, according to the Complaint.
