As part of CMA's responsibility to supervise, regulate, and develop credit rating activities in the Kingdom, further to its announcement dated 21/9/1436H corresponding to 8/7/2015G, regarding the CMA starting receiving applications to conduct credit rating activity and based on the related provisions set out in the Credit Rating Agencies Regulation, the CMA Board of Commissioners has issued its resolution authorizing " Moody's Investors Service Middle East Limited " to conduct credit rating activities in the Kingdom.

The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) today issued a circular expressing its concerns about the management of some private funds (Note 1) and discretionary accounts. During the SFC’s supervision of licensed corporations engaged in the asset management business, a number of private funds and discretionary accounts with concentrated, illiquid and interconnected investments were found to have irregular features.

On 28 July 2017, the European financial regulators (European Supervisory Authorities or ESAs) released their technical advice on the contents of the Key Information Document (KID) for packaged retail and insurance-based investment products (PRIIPs) with environmental and social objectives (EOS PRIIPS). Surprisingly the Governance component of the "ESG" (Environmental, Social and Governance) investment approach is excluded.

A majority of Hong Kong-listed companies went beyond meeting the minimum environmental, social and governance ("ESG") disclosure requirements in their first ESG report after the new ESG reporting regulations were introduced, but related investment was still limited, and the ESG reporting standards have room for improvement, according to a newly released study conducted by the Hong Kong member firm BDO, the world's fifth largest accountancy network.
