  • Statement On Proposed Amendments To The National Market System Plan Governing The Consolidated Audit Trail To Enhance Data Security, SEC Commissioner Hester M. Peirce, Aug. 21, 2020

    Today the Securities and Exchange Commission proposed amendments to the national market system plan governing the consolidated audit trail (CAT).  Because the proposed amendments are designed to enhance the security of the consolidated audit trail, I supported the proposal.  I would have preferred the bolder step of confronting the CAT’s real and serious liberty implications. 

  • Nadex Temporarily Amends Binary Contracts Strike Width

    Pursuant to Section 5c(c)(1) of the Commodity Exchange Act, as amended (“Act”), and Section 40.6(d) of the regulations promulgated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (the “Commission”) under the Act (the “Regulations”), North American Derivatives Exchange, Inc. (“Nadex”, the “Exchange”) hereby provides notice that due to increased volatility in the underlying markets upon which the Nadex contracts are based, Nadex made changes to the strike widths of various contracts during the week of August 17, 2020 as indicated in the Weekly Notice. 

  • US Federal Agencies Issue Statement Providing Additional Information For Certain Bank Secrecy Act Due Diligence Requirements

    The Federal Reserve Board, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, the National Credit Union Administration, and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency today issued a joint statement clarifying that Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) due diligence requirements for customers who may be considered "politically exposed persons" (PEPs) should be commensurate with the risks posed by the PEP relationship.

  • SEC Proposes Data Security Enhancements To The CAT NMS Plan

    The Securities and Exchange Commission today proposed amendments to the national market system plan governing the Consolidated Audit Trail (the “CAT NMS Plan”) to bolster the Consolidated Audit Trail’s (“CAT”) data security.  While the CAT NMS Plan currently sets forth a number of requirements regarding the security and confidentiality of CAT data, the proposed amendments to the CAT NMS Plan are the latest SEC action to limit the scope of sensitive information required to be collected by CAT and enhance the security of the CAT and the protections afforded to CAT data. 

  • Nadex Refrains From Listing Certain Contracts

    Due to activity in the underlying markets upon which the Nadex contracts are based and pursuant to the authority granted in Nadex Rule 12.1(i), Nadex took the following actions: 

    • No EUR-JPY, GBP-JPY, GBP-USD, USD-CAD, or USD-JPY5-Minute Intraday Currency Binary contracts were listed for the 6:05pm expiration times on trade date August 17, 2020.

  • CFTC Orders Toronto-Based Firm To Pay $500,000 For Violating Capital, Reporting, And Supervision Rules

    The Commodity Futures Trading Commission today issued an order filing and settling charges against OANDA Corporation, a futures commission merchant (FCM) and retail foreign exchange dealer (RFED) headquartered in Toronto, Canada, for violating certain capital, reporting, and supervision rules.

  • David Mcallister, Chair Of The European Parliament's EU-UK Coordination Group, Underlines The Need For Rapid Progress In EU-UK Negotiations

    Statement by David McAllister (EPP, DE), Chair of the Parliament's EU-UK Coordination Group, after the latest round of talks on the future relationship between the UK and the EU:

    "Michel Barnier just debriefed the UK Coordination Group in the European Parliament about the seventh negotiation round with the United Kingdom. Unfortunately, the past weeks have shown few results. Another month has passed without any meaningful progress. Losing precious time now in the hope of getting a better deal in a last-minute poker game is not helpful, and potentially very detrimental for both sides."

  • Nigerian Stock Exchange Weekly Market Report For August 21st 2020

    A total turnover of 950.414 million shares worth N10.123 billion in 16,647 deals were traded this week by investors on the floor of the Exchange, in contrast to a total of 1.327 billion shares valued at N13.934 billion that exchanged hands last week in 19,392 deals.
