Federal Court Orders UK Man To Pay More Than $571 Million For Operating Fraudulent Bitcoin Trading Scheme

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission today announced that the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York entered a default judgment against Benjamin Reynolds, purportedly of Manchester, England, finding that he operated a fraudulent scheme to solicit bitcoin from members of the public and misappropriated customers’ bitcoin. This case was brought in connection with the Division of Enforcement’s Digital Assets Task Force.

ICE Futures Abu Dhabi Recognized As An Overseas Investment Exchange By UK’s Financial Conduct Authority

(NYSE:ICE), a leading operator of global exchanges and clearing houses and provider of mortgage technology, data and listings services, today announced that ICE Futures Abu Dhabi (“IFAD”), ICE’s new exchange in Abu Dhabi, has been recognized as an overseas investment exchange by the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority. This recognition ensures that UK-based traders can access IFAD markets and trading in ICE Murban Crude Oil Futures and 18 related cash settled derivatives and inter-commodity spreads launching on March 29, 2021.

IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva Appoints Brenda Boultwood As Director Of The Office Of Risk Management

Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), today announced her intention to appoint Brenda Boultwood as Director of the Office of Risk Management (ORM). Ms. Boultwood will succeed Vivek Arora, who has moved to the African Department as Deputy Director. Ms. Boultwood is expected to begin her work in this role on April 12, 2021.
