  • New Records Set at IPE

    The IPE has seen yet more record volumes in 1999. Yesterday, the IPE's Gas Oil futuresreached new levels when the contract traded 57,778 lots compared to the previous high set on 11 January 1996 when 56,332 lots traded. Russia's decision to severely reduce exports of gas oil, fuel oil and gasoline was the apparent reason for the increase in activity according to brokers.

  • CBOT To List Municipal Bond Contracts At Six Percent

    The Chicago Board of Trade announced today that beginning August 9, 1999, it will list the 6 percent Bond Buyer Municipal Bond contract. Currently, the contract is based on an 8 percent contract. The change will take effect with the March, June and September 2000 contracts.

    Natural gas futures trading set a monthly volume record in July on the New York Mercantile Exchange when 1,865,787 contracts were traded, surpassing the previous record of 1,788,528 contracts traded this past March.

  • Merc Lauds USDA On Renewal Of Dairy Options Pilot Program - USDA Announces Second Round Of Innovative Risk Management Tool

    The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) today lauded U.S. Agricultural Secretary Dan Glickman and the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Risk Management Agency (RMA) for expanding its Dairy Options Pilot Program (DOPP) to enable dairy farmers from an additional 61 counties in 25 states to manage the downside price risk related to their milk production. In Round II of the program announced by Secretary Glickman, milk producers from a total of 98 counties in 31 states will be able to participa
