KCBT Trading Volume Second-Highest In Exchange History

The Kansas City Board of Trade total exchange volume traded in June 2002 was the second-highest ever as 348,134 contracts were traded, trailing record-holding June 2001 volume by merely 1.2 percent.

June Volume: CME's June Volume Of 49.9 Million Is Highest On Record, As CME Posts Sixth Consecutive Record Volume Quarter

Monthly Trading volume in June on Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME) reached an all-time record 49.9 million contracts with an underlying value of $31.4 trillion. CME's second quarter volume of 138.7 million contracts represented the exchange's sixth consecutive quarter of record volume, 41 percent higher than the second quarter of 2001.

Eurex Turns Over 67 Million Contracts In June - Record Trading Volumes In Equity Index Products - Total Of 368 Million Contracts Traded In First Half Of 2002

Some 67 million contracts were traded and cleared at Eurex, the international derivatives market, in June. Compared with June 2001, the world's leading derivatives exchange expanded in volume by about 26 percent. For the first half of the year, the growth in volume was about 14 percent, rising to the highest mid-year volume to date of about 368 million contracts traded.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission's (CFTC) Office of General Counsel (OGC) issued no-action letters on June 28, 2002, permitting the offer and sale in the United States of Eurex Deutschland's (Eurex) futures contract based on the Dow Jones Global Titans 50 Index (Global Titans 50) and JSE Securities Exchange South Africa's (JSE) futures contract based on the FTSE/JSE 40 Top Companies Index (FTSE/JSE Top 40).

Cattle Futures To Be Launched On Sydney Futures Exchange

In conjunction with Meat and Livestock Australia Limited, SFE Corporation Limited announced the listing of its first Sponsored Product, the MLA/ SFE Cattle Futures contract to be traded on the Sydney Futures Exchange. Trading is scheduled to commence at 10:00am on Tuesday the 13th of August 2002.

A total of some 315.5 billion euros in volume was traded on the German stock exchanges in June; turnover was thus 2 percent higher than the previous month's figure (May 2002: 309 billion euros).
