  • Eurex Now Also Offering Futures Contract On EONIA Reference Rate In The USA

    On Monday, as previously announced, Eurex, the international derivatives market, has introduced futures on the reference rate for overnight money, EONIA (European Overnight Index Average). Eurex will be offering the new futures to clients in Europe as well as in the United States, the exchange reported on Monday. The introduction of the new product in the USA has been finalized with the regulatory agency, Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

    In advance of next week's Federal Open Market Committee meeting on January 29, the Chicago Board of Trade is reporting daily rate change probabilities in the FOMC's federal funds target rate, as indicated by the CBOT® 30-Day Federal Funds futures contract. The CBOT 30-Day Federal Funds futures contract is a key benchmark interest rate barometer that reflects the forward overnight effective rate for excess reserves that are traded among commercial banks in the U.S. federal funds market.
