    The Securities and Exchange Commission yesterday filed securities fraud charges against Amerindo Investment Advisors, Inc., Alberto William Vilar and Gary Alan Tanaka, Amerindo’s co-founders and principals, for misappropriating at least $5 million from an Amerindo client. Amerindo is a registered investment adviser with offices in San Francisco, New York and London.     On June 1, 2005 trading was halted on the NYSE at approximately 3:50 pm, ten minutes before the normal closing time due to a communications problem. As a result, Standard & Poor's calculated the June 1, 2005 closing values for its U.S. indices on a best-efforts basis based on the closing price as provided by NYSE for NYSE-listed stocks.     Sydney Futures Exchange experienced record trading volumes in both its 30 Day Interbank Cash Rate Futures contract and its Electricity Futures contract in the month of May.
