    Standard & Poor’s will make the following changes in the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index after the close of trading on Monday, June 28, 2004: Blue Mountain Energy Ltd. (TSXVN:GAS) will be removed from the index. The company will graduate to trade on the TSX under the ticker symbol “GAS” at the open on Wednesday, June 30, 2004.

    While the securities industry posted strong gains in profits and revenues for first quarter 2004 compared to the previous quarter, indications are that the pace of growth has leveled off, according to the latest issue of the Securities Industry Association’s Research Reports. Profits rose 13.4 percent from the fourth quarter of 2003 to reach $7.58 billion, and gross revenues increased 6.8 percent to reach $58.68 billion from the fourth quarter’s $54.92 billion.
