NASDAQ Announces Brut Integration Developments And Additional Price Reductions

The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. (“NASDAQ®”; OTCBB: NDAQ) today announced developments with its integration of Brut ECN into NASDAQ. In connection with these Brut integration developments, NASDAQ is also announcing today additional price reductions for the newly integrated execution services. Pending SEC approval, these price changes will be effective on November 1, 2004.

NASD Fines Sentinel Financial Services $700,000 For Failing To Prevent Market Timing - Supervisory Inadequacies Cited - Over $650,000 In Restitution Paid To Affected Funds

NASD has censured and fined Sentinel Financial Services Company, of Montpelier, Vermont, $700,000 for failing to prevent market timing in three mutual funds offered by its affiliate, Sentinel Group Funds, Inc. Sentinel also failed to establish and maintain a reasonable supervisory system designed to detect and prevent market timing in violation of the funds' trading policies.

Yesterday (Wednesday 6 October) Euronext.liffe’s Three Month Eurodollar futures, traded on LIFFE CONNECT®, set a new daily volume record of 60,500 contracts eclipsing the previous record of 43,100 set on 22 September by 40%.

Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Hits A Historical High

Total trading volume traded on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives (Bursa Derivatives) hit a historical high of 2,019,398 contracts for the year up to September 2004, surpassing the annual trading volume recorded in previous years. It also surpassed the annual volume for the year 2003 of 2,000,263 contracts. Commodity futures contributed 1,050,514 contracts (52%), Equity futures, 843,941 contracts (42%) and financial futures, 124,943 contracts (6%) towards the total trading in Bursa Derivatives.
