The American Stock Exchange® (Amex®) member and non-member organizations today reported short interest of 1,031,823,877 shares as of the October 31, 2007 settlement date, an increase of 42,020,005 from the 989,803,872 (adjusted) shares reported on October 15, 2007. The October figure represents trades through October 26, 2007.

The Philadelphia Stock Exchange Announces October Volume

The Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX) announced today that equity option volume in October jumped 59.25% when 42,216,206 contracts traded compared to the same year-ago period when 26,510,197 contracts traded. Volume was up 51.62% year-to-date. Equity option volume in October was up 46.07% compared to the previous month when 28,901,559 contracts traded. Average daily volume in October for equity options reached 1,835,487contracts.

The Minneapolis Grain Exchange (MGEX or Exchange) announced that it has set a new daily electronic trading volume record with 4,879 contracts trading during the November 5 trading session. This exceeds the previous daily electronic trading volume record (4,726 contracts) set on April 10, 2007 by 153 contracts.
