Peter Bresnan, Deputy Director Of Enforcement, To Leave Securities And Exchange Commission

The Securities and Exchange Commission announced today that Peter H. Bresnan, Deputy Director of Enforcement, will leave the Commission on December 5. He will become a partner in the law firm Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, in the firm's Washington office.

LME Announces Additional Grades For Steel Billet Contracts

The London Metal Exchange (LME) has today confirmed the addition of new grades and shapes to its steel billet contracts, which the Exchange will launch on 28 April 2008, preceded by a ‘soft launch’ on 25 February 2008.

SEC Adopts Proxy Rule Amendments Encouraging Electronic Shareholder Forums

The Securities and Exchange Commission voted today to adopt amendments to the federal proxy rules under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 to facilitate the use of electronic shareholder forums. The amendments are expected to open up new avenues for real-time communications among shareholders, and between shareholders and the companies they own.
