HKFE Announces Revised Margins For HKEx Futures

Hong Kong Futures Exchange Limited (HKFE), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx), has announced that with effect from the commencement of trading on Friday, 15 May 2009, the minimum margins to be collected by an Exchange Participant from its clients in respect of their dealings in the following futures contract will be as outlined in the table below. The adjustments are based on the clearing company's normal procedures and standard margining methodology.

UK’s Financial Services Authority Fines Morgan Stanley £1.4m For Failing To Prevent Trader Mis-Marking And Fines And Bans Matthew Sebastian Piper

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has today fined Morgan Stanley & Co International Plc (Morgan Stanley) £1.4 million for systems and controls failings in relation to trader mis-marking which led the firm to make a $120 million negative adjustment in June 2008.

HKEx: Appointment Of Consultative Panel Members

The Board of Directors of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) has today (Wednesday) appointed members to the Cash Market Consultative Panel, Derivatives Market Consultative Panel and Clearing Consultative Panel. Each of the appointees will have a three-year service term from 1 June 2009 to 31 May 2012, inclusive.

Tokyo Commodity Exchange Inc. (TOCOM or “the Exchange”) reported that its new trading system launched on May 7, 2009 experienced a technical problem from around 10:30 on Tuesday, May 12. TOCOM expresses its deepest apologies for the inconveniences the problem may have caused to market participants and other parties concerned.

President Zhang Yujun Of The Shanghai Stock Exchange: Focus On Bond Market Development

In an interview on 11 May, President Zhang Yujun of the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) said that the SSE is duty-bound to drive the construction of Shanghai International Financial Centre and International Shipping Centre. Shenzhen Stock Exchange signed an overall cooperation agreement with Xinhua News Agency in Shenzhen on 11 May. Both sides agree to strengthen mutual cooperation in financial news, services, channels, technology and talents. Song Liping, general manager of Shenzhen Stock Exchange, and Yang Chunnan, president of Guangdong Branch of Xinhua News Agency, signed the agreement with witness by Lu Wei, vice-president of Xinhua News Agency, and Chen Dongzheng, president of Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
