Hong Kong Futures Exchange Limited (HKFE), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx), has announced that with effect from the commencement of trading on Monday, 17 August 2009, the minimum margins to be collected by an Exchange Participant from its clients in respect of their dealings in the following futures contracts will be as outlined in the table below. The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today announced that it has entered into a consent order settling charges brought against Amaranth Advisors, L.L.C., based in Greenwich, Connecticut, and its Amaranth Advisors (Calgary) ULC subsidiary, based in Calgary, Alberta (the Amaranth entities) for attempting to manipulate the price of natural gas futures contracts on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) on February 24 and April 26, 2006.

SEC Charges Terex Corporation With Accounting Fraud

The Securities and Exchange Commission today charged Terex Corporation, a Westport, Conn.-based heavy equipment manufacturer, with accounting fraud for making material misstatements in its own financial reports to investors, as well as aiding and abetting a fraudulent accounting scheme at United Rentals, Inc. (URI), another Connecticut-based public company.

In a new research report, “The Investment Assembly Line: Alpha Discovery and the Illusion of Automation,” TABB Group says that actively managed quantitative strategies currently account for 9% of all US equity assets under management (AuM), this at a time when quantitative assets represent nearly 33% of total US equity AuM, up from 14% in 2000.
