Options Clearing Corporation Half Year Volume Reaches 2 Billion Contracts

The Options Clearing Corporation announced today that 2,014,209,214 total options contracts changed hands in the first half of 2010 representing an 11% percent increase over the first half of 2009. Total OCC volume for June came in at 311,231,916 contracts, a 2% decrease from June of last year when 316,348,912 contracts traded. In June 2010, cumulative trading turnover on SIX Swiss Exchange and Scoach Switzerland amounted to CHF 100.1 billion, representing a 11.6% decline versus the previous month. The total number of trades also retreated by 15.1% to a total of 2,914,973. The only increase in activity for the month was recorded in the CHF Bonds segment, where turnover increased by 12.9% to CHF 16.5 billion and the number of trades rose by 15.8% to 45,104.

The Options Industry Council Announces June Trading Volume Down Slightly As First Half Volume Rose 10%

The Options Industry Council (OIC) announced today that 309,262,866 total options contracts were traded in June, a 2.03 percent decline compared to June 2009 volume of 315,656,061 contracts. However, year-to-date volume stood at 2,000,877,118 contracts and is up 10.22 percent over the first six months of last year when 1,815,316,203 contracts were traded.

The average number of trades per business day amounted to 287,118 as compared to 252,510 during the past 12-month period. The total market cap of listed companies at NASDAQ OMX Nordic Exchange amounted to EUR 671 billion, compared to EUR 494 billion in June 2009.

Xetra Turnover Up 29 Percent In June 16 Million Trades Executed On Xetra - Total Volume Of 122.5 Billion Euros Traded On All Stock Exchanges In Germany

In June, 111.4 billion euros were traded on Xetra and on the floor at Börse Frankfurt – an increase of 27 percent year-on-year (June 2009: 87.9 billion euros). Of the 111.4 billion euros, 105.5 billion euros were traded on Xetra, an increase of 29 percent year-on-year (June 2009: 81.7 billion euros). 5.9 billion euros were traded on the floor, a slight decrease by 5 percent (June 2009: 6.2 billion euros).
