Chicago Business Barometer: April Chicago Business Barometer Down 3.2 Points To 50.4 - New Orders And Backlogs Fall To The Lowest Since December 2015

The Chicago Business Barometer decreased 3.2 points to 50.4 in April from 53.6 in March led by a fall in New Orders and a sharp drop in Order Backlogs. It marks a slow start to the second quarter, with most measures down from levels seen a year earlier.

I am really sorry not to be with you for your conference and to have the chance to discuss the work that we have been doing together to strengthen the banking union.
The first and most striking point is just how much has been achieved in recent years.
The financial crisis revealed how unprepared we were to deal with the failure of large banking groups. As Martin Gruenberg, Chairman of the FDIC, said last week: without a framework in place we were "forced to choose between two bad options: taxpayer bailouts or financial collapse."

HKEX: Appointments To Committees And Consultative Panel

Following the Government's re-appointment of Chow Chung Kong and Timothy George Freshwater, and shareholders' election of Apurv Bagri as Directors of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX), HKEX's Board today (Friday) appointed new members to certain committees and the Clearing Consultative Panel with immediate effect as follows. The composition of other committees and consultative panels remains unchanged.

SGX: Singapore, Hong Kong And India ETFs Grab Spotlight In Month To Date

- Asia ex-Japan equity markets have gained 0.3% in the April month-to-date in Singapore dollar terms, with the Hang Seng Index, the Straits Times Index and the MSCI India Index among the region’s outperformers, rising 2.9%, 0.8% and 0.4% during the period.
- Reflecting this trend, the SPDR® Straits Times Index ETF, the iShares MSCI India Index ETF, and the db x-trackers FTSE China 50 UCITS ETF (DR) were the second, fourth and ninth-most active Exchange Traded Funds in the month thus far.
- The SPDR® Straits Times Index ETF, iShares MSCI India Index ETF, and db x-trackers FTSE China 50 UCITS ETF (DR) generated MTD returns of 1.0%, 0.1% and 0.9% respectively over the period.

HKEX: Re-Appointment Of Chairman

The Board of Directors (“Board”) of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (“HKEX”) today resolved to re-appoint Mr Chow Chung Kong (“Mr Chow”) as the Chairman of the Board (“Chairman”) for a term to be coterminous with his directorship.

Q1 2016: Bonds Quarterly Statistics - The Latest Issue Of The "Bonds Quarterly Statistics" Report Looks At The Performance Of SIX Swiss Exchange's Bonds Segment In Q1 2016.

SIX Swiss Exchange today published the latest edition of its "Bonds Quarterly Statistics[pdf]". Turnover in the CHF bonds segment amounted to CHF 37.2 billion in the first quarter, an increase of 11% compared to the previous quarter. The strongest sector in terms of turnover, financials, grew significantly by 31%, however governments declined by 4%. At the end of March the total number of listed bonds remains unchanged at 1711, compared to the end of December.
