  • FINRA Orders An Additional Five Firms To Pay $18 Million In Restitution To Charities And Retirement Accounts Overcharged For Mutual Funds

    The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) announced today that it has ordered five firms to pay restitution estimated at more than $18 million, including interest, to affected customers for failing to waive mutual fund sales charges for eligible charitable organizations and retirement accounts. The following firms were sanctioned.

  • EBA: Consultation On Guidelines On How Information Should Be Provided Under The BRRD (EBA/CP/2015/18)

    The European Banking Authority (EBA) launched today a consultation on draft Guidelines on how confidential information collected under the Bank Recovery and Resolution Directive (BRRD) should be disclosed in summary or collective form without identifying individual institutions or relevant entities. The aim of the Guidelines is to promote symmetric information and convergence of supervisory and resolution practices regarding the disclosure of confidential information. The consultation runs until 27 January 2016.

  • SEC: Developer, Former Top Execs Charged For Improper Accounting Of Real Estate Assets During Financial Crisis

    The Securities and Exchange Commission today charged The St. Joe Company, a Watersound, Florida-based real estate developer and landowner, its former top executives, and two former accounting department directors, with improperly accounting for the declining value of its residential real estate developments during the financial crisis. As a result of this misconduct, St. Joe reported materially overstated earnings and assets in 2009 and 2010.
