ACER Consults On The Amendments To The Harmonised Allocation Rules For Cross-Border Transmission In Electricity

The EU Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) launches today a public consultation on amendments to the harmonised allocation rules for long-term cross-border transmission rights on the basis of the EU Regulation on Forward Capacity Allocation. Japan's Financial Services Agency: The Study Group On The Economic Value-Based Solvency Framework

Background
The purpose of an economic value-based solvency regulation is to properly evaluate insurers’ financial positions through economic value-based valuation of both their assets and liabilities. It is also expected to facilitate the enhancement of insurers’ risk management. The FSA has held dialogues with various stakeholders on the matter, keeping in mind the possibility of introducing a new regulation in line with the timeline of the development of the ICS (Insurance Capital Standard). In doing so, the FSA has also been conscious of the potential unintended consequences of a new regulation under the current economic environment.

Claims Management Companies Must Raise Advertising Standards, Says UK Financial Conduct Authority

Claims management companies (CMCs) must do more to ensure their promotions do not mislead potential customers according to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Since the FCA took over regulation of CMCs on 1 April 2019 it has reviewed over 200 CMC adverts in various media and found widespread poor-practice in CMCs.

Nadex Amends Strike Widths For Weekly And Daily US Indices Binary Contracts

Pursuant to Section 5c(c)(1) of the Commodity Exchange Act, as amended (“Act”), and section §40.6(a) of the regulations promulgated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (the “Commission”) under the Act (the “Regulations”), North American Derivatives Exchange, Inc. (“Nadex”, the “Exchange”) has provided to the Commission its intent to amend its Rules 12.59 (US 500 Binary Contracts), 12.61 (US SmallCap 2000 Binary Contracts), 12.63 (US Tech 100 Binary Contracts), and 12.65 (Wall Street 30 Binary Contracts) to double the strike widths on all Weekly and Daily US Indices Binary Contracts to accommodate an extended period of increased volatility in the underlying markets upon which the Nadex contracts are based. These changes will become effective on September 9, 2019.
