Nasdaq Composite Index Tops 4000 - 60th Composite Index Record For The Year

The Nasdaq Composite® Index today closed above the 4000 mark for the first time in its 28-year history. Preliminary figures show the Index finished at 4041.45, up 69.34 for the day. The Index topped 4000 only 38 trading sessions after closing above the 3000 milestone for the first time. KLSE Says No Approval For Collective Custodial (Asia) Pte Ltd

Singapore Business Times in its report 'S'pore firm steps in with friendlier CLOB offer' yesterday stated that a Singapore registered company - Collective Custodial Services (Asia) Pte Ltd - has purportedly received verbal in-principle approval from the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange for its CLOB proposal.

JSE Records All Time High For All Share Index

A new record closing value of 8,540 was recorded for the JSE/Actuaries All Share Index today. The 8,500 mark has been reached for the first time in the JSE's 112 year history and it is the second consecutive record value for the All Share Index during the current month. The All Share Index recorded a previous high of 8,495 on December 20, 1999.

The Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE) has announced that for the KLSE Group Friday, December 31, 1999 is a non-trading, non-settlement day and non-CDS transaction day. It is, however, a working day for the KLSE Group. KLSE will resume trading and settlement on Monday, January 3, 2000.
