CBOE's New Mini Index Off To Impressive Start

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) announced that trading of the new CBOE Mini-NDX index (CBOE ticker symbol MNXSM) debuted successfully today. Trading in the new index product totaled 27,417 contracts, making MNX one of the most-active options at CBOE today. Officials at CBOE are extremely pleased with the opening day success of MNX, which is a 1/10th size version of the existing Nasdaq-100 Index® options (NDX) at CBOE. Stanchart posted good interim results for the six months to 30th June 2000. Total net income grew 33.6% to P118.730m and income after tax rose 35% to P48.532m. Dividends rose 42.9% to 10t per share from 7t in the comparable period. Total assets grew 6.9% to P2.193bn and Loans & Advances rose 19.6% to P1.051bn.

Securities And Exchange Commission Votes To End Selective Disclosure - Chairman Arthur Levitt Hails Leveling Of Information Playing Field

The Securities and Exchange Commission yesterday approved a new rule that would end the practice of selective disclosure, whereby officials of public companies provide important information to Wall Street insiders prior to making the information available to the general public. The Commission also approved two new rules to clarify existing insider trading law.

S&P/TSE 60 Index Futures (SXF) Hits The 1 million mark

The Montreal Exchange set a new record yesterday with its S&P/TSE index futures contract (SXF). After only 11 months of trading, the SXF hit the 1 million mark of contracts traded, representing a value in excess of 1,000 billion dollars.

Nymex To Increase Palladium Futures Margins

The New York Mercantile Exchange will increase the margins on palladium futures on August 14, 16, and 18.

Nymex To Change Platinum Options Expiration Schedule

The New York Mercantile Exchange has received approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to change the expiration schedule for its platinum options contract to the third Wednesday of the month preceding the contract month, beginning with the expiration of the May 2001 contract.

The New York Board of Trade (NYBOT) yesterday reported another new open interest record of 120,741 Sugar options puts for August 9, 2000 over the prior open interest record of 120,278 realized on August 8, 2000.
