Borsa Italiana Monthly Key Figures - June

Turnover for June was EUR 65,275.7 million. This compares to EUR 74,788.3 million in May. Domestic turnover in June was EUR 61,722.8 million, foreign turnover EUR 1,751.2 million, Nuovo Mercato EUR 1,696.7 million and on the Ristretto market EUR 105.0 million. Turnover for the period January to June 2000 was EUR 484,928.3 million.

Tradepoint Financial Networks plc - U.S. Members Gain Direct Access To European Equity Trading For The First Time

Tradepoint Financial Networks plc (“Tradepoint”) - the electronic market for equities trading - has announced that the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission (“SEC”) has issued a no-action letter with regard to trading of European equities on Tradepoint. This will make Tradepoint the first stock exchange to be able to offer trading in European equities to U.S. buy and sell side members.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange Joins FTSE All-World Index

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange announced that 23 of its listed companies were included in the FTSE All-World Index. The new index, launched June 30, includes stocks from 49 exchanges worldwide.

PHLX Post Volume Increase In America Online

The Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX) announced on June 30 that a record 177,417 America Online (AOL) options contracts traded on the options floor at the PHLX on June 29. This is in comparison to the average daily volume in America Online equity options for the month of May of approximately 45,000 contracts.

ParisBourse Derivatives Trading Up In The First Half Despite Slackening In June

Despite a modest decline of 4.8% from May to June, trading on ParisBourse SBF SA derivative markets during the first half was up 31% from the same period of 1999. A total of 127,185,368 futures and options were traded over the six months, while the figure for June was 21,307,565 after 22,379,347 in May.

Nasdaq Preliminary 2000 First Half Results - Total Dollar Volume Increased 125 Percent Over The First Half Of 1999

The dollar value of shares traded on The Nasdaq Stock Market® increased dramatically in the first half of 2000. Total dollar volume in the first six months of this year climbed 125 percent to $10.8 trillion from $4.8 trillion in the same period in 1999. Nasdaq finished the second quarter and the first half with average daily share volumes of 1.59 billion and 1.70 billion shares, respectively. Nasdaq's heaviest ever trading day occurred in the second quarter, when volume totaled 2.88 billion

The guest speaker was Sir Howard Davies from the FSA, and Olivier Fleurot, Chairman FTSE, and Geoff Lindley, Chairman FTSE Steering Committee, presented the awards.
