  • Nasdaq Requests Frontline Ltd. To Comment On Activity In Stock

    The Nasdaq Stock Market® announced today that it has contacted Frontline Ltd. (FRONY) and requested that it issue a public statement specifying any corporate developments that may explain unusual trading activity in the company's stock. In response to Nasdaq's request, Frontline Ltd. stated that it was company policy not to comment on unusual market activity.

  • IPE Launches New Crude Price Indicator

    From 16 November the IPE will publish trade-weighted average prices for each Brent Crude futures contract month. The initiative follows requests from a number of market participants who see the new price indicator as a potential new benchmark for the oil industry.

  • Development of New Commodities Market In Kinki Japan

    In September 1999, Kansai Bureau of International Trade and Industry set up the Study Group for the Metal Markets in Kinki to conduct the review on the possibility of the establishment of new base metal markets in Kinki area. Upon the receipt of the review, the Osaka Mercantile Exchange intends to establish a committee to plan the launch of new commodities.

    The Chicago Board of Trade announced yesterday that CBOT members set a new annual volume record in the wheat futures contract Friday, trading 5,681,579 contracts so far this year.

The IT stock raced to a record debut as it shot up 50% on its first day of trading with over 600,000 shares changing hands to end the week at P1.55.   • Amsterdam Exchanges Introduces Options And Futures On The Amsterdam Midkap-Index

    As of Tuesday 23 November 1999, AEX-Optiebeurs will introduce options and futures on the Amsterdam Midkap-index®. The Amsterdam Midkap-index® exsists as of 1 October 1995 and is regarded to be the leading index for 25 companies from the midcap segment of the Dutch stock market.

  • 400th Participant Admitted to Xetra

    Deutsche Börse AG has now admitted the 400th Xetra participant. The new participant, Raiffeisenlandesbank Niederösterreich, is based in Vienna and will be trading in Xetra via remote membership. Of the 120 members who have been newly admitted in 1999 to date, 96 are based outside Germany. Another 45 participants are in the process of being admitted and will start trading in Xetra shortly.

  • ASX All Ordinaries Index Options

    On 8 November ASX will commence trading in put and call options over the All Ordinaries Index. Index options will be complemented by the simultaneous listing of Low Exercise Price Options (LEPOs) over the All Ordinaries Index.
