    NASD announced today it had hired Nick Bannister to the newly created position of Managing Director and head of international affairs and services. Bannister will be responsible for working with international securities markets, regulators and officials to expand the use of NASD's regulatory expertise and services around the world.

    At 12.15 p.m. today Euronext.liffe, the derivatives branch of Euronext, launched options on shares of Heineken Holding N.V. These options are traded alongside the options on shares in Heineken N.V.

  • Eurex Now Also Offering Futures Contract On EONIA Reference Rate In The USA

    On Monday, as previously announced, Eurex, the international derivatives market, has introduced futures on the reference rate for overnight money, EONIA (European Overnight Index Average). Eurex will be offering the new futures to clients in Europe as well as in the United States, the exchange reported on Monday. The introduction of the new product in the USA has been finalized with the regulatory agency, Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

  • Clearstream: Direct Link Between The HKMA's Central Moneymarkets Unit And Clearstream Goes Live

    The direct link from the Hong Kong Monetary Authority's (HKMA) Central Moneymarkets Unit (CMU) to the settlement system of Clearstream Banking Luxembourg commences live operation on Monday. The new link will allow CMU Members, most of which are banks in Hong Kong, to clear, settle and hold Clearstream-eligible securities via their CMU accounts. The new link will improve settlement risk and efficiency such that investors in this region can clear and settle international securities in a secure and
