Ljubljana Stock Exchange Monthly Statistical Report December 2000

Turnover In December 2000 the Exchange recorded the highest monthly value of total turnover in its history. The total turnover on all its market segments amounted to SIT 53.12 billion, which was 20% higher than in December 1999, which had previously been the record month. The total turnover in the year 2000 reached SIT 269.62 billion, 1.5% over the previous year figure.

In 2000 the total turnover of securities on the Exchange amounted to SIT 269.62 billion, which is 1.5 % higher than the 1999 figure. The total turnover in individual months fluctuated between SIT 10.89 billion in August and SIT 53.12 billion in December. The record month of the first half-year was March when we recorded a turnover of SIT 28.02 billion. A traditional peak of the year was reached again in December. IPE: Notice Of Sanction

The IPE has settled disciplinary proceedings against Cargill Investor Services Ltd and a former employee, Ms Cathy Sutin. The proceedings arose out of customer orders for the Natural Gas contract entered onto the IPE’s electronic trading platform (ETS) in July and August 1999 by Ms Sutin a few seconds before the end of trading.

Alan Cameron To be Appointed To SFE Board

Alan Cameron has agreed to be proposed for appointment to the Board of the Sydney Futures Exchange (SFE) later this year. Mr Cameron will attend Board meetings forthwith as an observer prior to his formal appointment.

The Central Bank Of Iceland Auctions Repurchase Agreements For 26.2 Billion Krónur

The Central Bank of Iceland held a weekly auction of repurchase agreements on January 23 of the maturity of 14 days. The auction was a fixed rate one at 11.4 per cent p.a. Offers were made for a total amount of 26.2 billion krónur resulting in repurchase contracts for that amount.

SFE Trading Volume Up 5.1% In 2000

Trading volume at the Sydney Futures Exchange (SFE) rose 5.1% in the calendar year 2000 to 31,299,021 futures and options contracts – the second highest annual volume in SFE’s 40-year history.

Nasdaq Concludes Record Share And Dollar Volume Year Composite Index Finishes Lower

The Nasdaq Stock Market® set new share and dollar volume records in 2000, but its primary index finished lower-ending five consecutive years of record gains. Yearly share volume totaled 442.7 billion shares, a 62 percent increase over 272.6 billion in 1999. Average daily share volume reached 1.75 billion in 2000, compared to1.08 billion the year before. Daily share volume exceeded two billion shares on 47 occasions in 2000.

London Stock Exchange To Name Clara Furse As Chief Executive Officer – Report On Breakingviews.com

The London Stock Exchange is set to appoint Clara Furse as Chief Executive Officer of Europe's biggest bourse, Breakingviews.com said on Tuesday. Breakingviews.com said Furse, former head of French bank Credit Lyonnais' derivatives business, would take up the appointment in February. Furse would be the first woman chief executive of the London Stock Exchange.
