HKEx To Invest In Electronic Bond Trading Platform BondsInAsia

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) has agreed to acquire an interest which currently represents a 15.58 per cent shareholding in BondsInAsia Limited (BIA), the premier fixed income trading platform in Asia. This level of investment is the same as BIA's existing bank shareholders. (The amount of investment by HKEx in BIA is not such as to constitute a notifiable transaction under the Listing Rules.)

Helsinki Exchanges Evening Trading Cut Back By One Hour As Of 2 April

Evening trading at Helsinki Exchanges will be cut back by one hour as of 2 April, 2002, when the shorter hours will be applied for the first time. Otherwise trading hours will remain unchanged.

CBOT Swap Futures Set Volume, Open Interest Records

Continuing one of the exchange's best new-product performances, the Chicago Board of Trade's (CBOT®) 10-Year Interest Rate Swap futures contract yesterday reached a new daily volume record of 9,137 contracts and an open interest record level of 20,179.

Singapore's First Local ETF On The STI To List On 17 April 2002

State Street Global Advisors (SSgA) and Singapore Exchange Limited (SGX) today announced that Singapore's first local Exchange Traded Fund (ETF), the streetTRACKSSM Straits Times Index Fund ("streetTRACKS STI") will be listed and traded on SGX from 17 April 2002.

The Securities and Exchange Commission filed suit today against the founder and five other former top officers of Waste Management Inc., charging them with perpetrating a massive financial fraud lasting more than five years. The complaint, filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago, charges that defendants engaged in a systematic scheme to falsify and misrepresent Waste Management's financial results between 1992 and 1997.

NZSE Releases Consultation Paper On Proposed Listing Rule Changes

The New Zealand Stock Exchange ("NZSE") today released a consultation paper proposing a number of changes to its Listing Rules intended to align the NZSE Listing Rules with key aspects of the Securities Markets and Institutions Bill, including continuous disclosure and an obligation on directors to disclose all trading in relevant securities.
