    The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), the world's largest options exchange, today announced a milestone in the roll-out of its Hybrid Trading System, CBOEdirect HyTS. There are now 141 active options classes available for trading via CBOEdirect HyTS, representing approximately 50% of U.S. equity options trading volume. This is ASX’s highest quarterly profit on record and an increase of 22.8% on the $15.8 million achieved for the previous corresponding three months to 30 September 2002.

    The American Stock Exchange (Amex) member and non-member organizations today reported short interest of 814,977,123 shares as of the October 15 settlement date, an increase of 72,860,874 from the 742,116,249 (adjusted) shares reported in mid-September. The October figure represents trades through October 9, 2003.

    The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced today the appointment of Commissioner Walter L. Lukken to serve as Chairman and Designated Federal Official of its Global Markets Advisory Committee (GMAC). The GMAC was created by the Commission to provide a forum in which it can discuss the many complex and novel issues raised by the ever-increasing globalization of futures markets. Under Commissioner Lukken's leadership, the GMAC will continue to explore the many competitive and regula
