The International Petroleum Exchange (IPE), Europe's leading energy futures and options exchange, announces a number of senior and distinguished independent legal appointments to its Disciplinary and Appeals Panels. Miss Elizabeth Appleby QC, Mr Peter Gross QC and Mr Andrew Moran QC have been appointed to Chair the IPE's Disciplinary Panel hearings. The Rt Hon Lord Mustill has agreed to act as the Chair of the Appeals Panel.

EEX Turns Over 1.3 TWh In Integrated Spot And Futures Market In July - Second Highest Turnover In Spot Market - Three New Trading Participants

EEX European Energy Exchange reported its turnover figures for the month of Juli on Wednesday, showing that 1.3 terawatt hours (TWh) of electricity were traded on the integrated spot and futures market. July figures are in line with the previous months figures of 1.4 TWh. Trading figures of 913,778 MWh for the spot market showed the second highest turnover since the launch of the spot market in August last year. CME Volume For July Reaches 29.6 Million, Up 91 Percent - GLOBEX®2 Electronic Volume Increases 158 Percent To 6.6 Million

Trading volume on Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME) rose 91 percent above year-ago levels to 29.6 million contracts in July, higher than any previous July in exchange history. Volume on CME's GLOBEX®2 electronic trading system reached 6.2 million, an increase of 158 percent over July 2000.

The CBOT® 30-Day Federal Funds futures contract for July 2001 was liquidated by cash settlement this morning at a final settlement price of 96.231 for an average overnight effective rate of 3.769 percent during the delivery month.

Toronto Stock Exchange To Complete Acquisition Of CDNX - Securities Commissions Grant Regulatory Approval

The Toronto Stock Exchange (TSE) received approvals today from the Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario securities commissions which will allow it to complete its acquisition of the Canadian Venture Exchange (CDNX). Closing of the transaction is expected to occur tomorrow, August 1, 2001.

The Central Bank Of Iceland Auctions Repurchase Agreements For 26.5 Billion Krónur

The Central Bank of Iceland held a weekly auction of repurchase agreements on July 31st the maturity of 14 days. The auction was a fixed rate one at 10.9 per cent p.a. Offers were made for a total amount of 26.5 billion krónur resulting in repurchase contracts for that amount.
