NZSE Releases Consultation Paper On Proposed Conduct Rule Changes

The New Zealand Stock Exchange ("NZSE") today released a consultation paper proposing a number of changes to its Conduct Rules intended to align the NZSE Listing Rules with key aspects of the Securities Markets and Institutions Bill (as reported back from the Select Committee) including continuous disclosure and an obligation on directors to disclose all trading in relevant securities, and to revise aspects of the Business Rules to promote growth in the market.

Merrill Lynch, Chicago Mercantile Exchange Launch New TRAKRS Contracts

Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME) today launched a new series of non-traditional futures products called TRAKRSSM. Developed with Merrill Lynch and licensed exclusively to CME for North America, TRAKRS are the first broad-based index products traded on a U.S. futures exchange that can be sold by securities brokers.

Turnover During the first six months of 2002, the total turnover on all market segments of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange (LJSE)amounted to SIT 206.21 billion ,which is by 42%,or by SIT 60.7 billion more if compared to an equivalent period last year.The highest monthly turnover was recorded in April,with SIT 41 billion,and the lowest n January with SIT 30 billion.

HKFE Announces Revised Margins For Three-Month Futures Contract

Hong Kong Futures Exchange Limited (HKFE), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx), announced that with effect from the commencement of trading on Thursday, 1 August 2002, the minimum margins to be collected by an Exchange Participant from its clients in respect of their dealings in the following futures contract will be as outlined in the table below. The adjustments are based on the clearing company's normal procedures and standard margining methodology.

FSA Outlines Options On Analysts' Investment Research

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) today publishes a discussion paper on whether changes should be made to the FSA's regulatory approach to investment research in the UK. The options put forward for discussion range from no change to the current requirements, to new rules, or even a completely new approach under which some research reports would be clearly labelled as advice, promotion or marketing material.
