HKFE Announces Revised Margins For Futures Contracts

Hong Kong Futures Exchange Limited (HKFE), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx), announced that with effect from the commencement of trading on Wednesday, 2 July 2003, the minimum margins to be collected by an Exchange Participant from its clients in respect of their dealings in the following futures contracts will be as outlined in the table below. The adjustments are based on the clearing company's normal procedures and standard margining methodology.

First ETF And Future Contract Launched In Taiwan

FTSE is pleased to announce two new financial products today begin trading using the TSEC Taiwan 50 Index, calculated by FTSE. The index, which began in October 2002, has shown a positive performance of over 10% since inception. Polaris, a leading fund manager in Taiwan, has created an Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) based on the TSEC Taiwan 50 Index, and has been advised by State Street Global Advisors (SSgA). Changes To STOXX Limited's Management Team

Michael A. Petronella, president of Dow Jones Indexes, has been elected chairman of the Supervisory Board of STOXX Limited, effective July 1, 2003. In addition, the Supervisory Board of STOXX Limited announced that Elizabeth von Werra has been appointed to managing director, effective Sept. 1, 2003.

Change To NZX Market Trading Hours - From Monday June 30

NZX changed its market trading hours on Monday 30 June 2003, from 9am to 4pm, to new hours of 10am (market opening) to 5pm (market closing). Trade execution cut-off time is 5.30pm Company announcements will be accepted for release until 6pm. Settlement cut-off remains unchanged at 4pm.

CFTC Proposes Rule Modernization For Customer Fund Investments

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced today that it is proposing to modernize its rules regarding the investment of customer funds by futures commission merchants and clearinghouses to facilitate the use of certain repurchase agreements and certain collateral management programs. The Commission is also soliciting comments on whether several other provisions of its rule governing the investment of customer funds should be modified.

ASX: End Of Financial Year Summary

Despite the continued global economic downturn, investors have traded at record levels with growth in turnover of around 3.2% over the last financial year ($535 billion up from $518 billion). The majority of this growth has been in the institutional segment, however strong growth in retail options trading has lifted overall retail participation numbers.

Instinet Group Incorporated (Nasdaq:INET) announced today that Will Sterling, President of its Island ECN subsidiary and head of Instinet Corporation's ECN and Clearing businesses, will be leaving today to accept a new job at another company. Instinet's Executive Vice President for Strategic Planning, Alex Goor, will now lead Instinet's ATS/ECN initiatives.
