  • CBOT Foundation Announces Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts

    In light of the tragedies surrounding Hurricane Katrina, the Chicago Board of Trade Foundation is sponsoring a matching gift program up to $250,000 for shareholders and employees to benefit the American Red Cross, specifically directed to the Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief Fund, and other industry wide support programs dedicated to aiding the victims in the affected areas.  The attached letter below provides more information on the CBOT fundraising efforts.

    The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) today announced that it will offer a new options contract, Mini-SPX options, based on the Standard & Poor's 500 Stock Index, beginning Tuesday, October 25, 2005. Mini-SPX options (ticker symbol XSP) will be 1/10th the value of the S&P 500 Index, and will trade on CBOE's Hybrid 2.0 Trading System, which includes Remote Market Makers.     The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) today announced that it will launch a new type of option, "Weeklys," on Friday, October 28, 2005. Weeklys will have a life of one week, listing on a Friday, and expiring the following Friday, thus providing an efficient way to trade options specifically around certain news or events-- such as economic data or earnings announcements.

    The Chicago Board Options Exchange® (CBOE) and The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. (NASDAQ: NDAQ) announced today that they have signed an agreement for CBOE to calculate and disseminate the CBOE NASDAQ-100 BuyWrite Index (BXN). The new index is calculated using options on the NASDAQ-100 Index® (NDX) - a worldwide benchmark that tracks the performance of some of the largest non-financial companies listed on NASDAQ®.
