The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) today announced that a new daily volume record was set for mini-sized Gold futures with 2,648 contracts traded on January 6, 2004, breaking the previous record of 2,344 contracts set on November 25, 2003.

The January canola futures contract at the Winnipeg Commodity Exchange (WCE) closed 2003 at $364.50 per metric tonne, ending a year that saw the nearby futures contract price swing over $100.00 per tonne. Winnipeg Commodity Exchange Feed Grain Volumes Post Gains From A Year Ago

Feed wheat futures contract volume rose 108.6% in December from the level recorded a year ago, with 4,231 contracts trading. Western barley trade increased by 1.9% from last December with volume reaching 10,977 futures contracts.

The report released today by the Investment Company Institute is fundamentally flawed because it considered only the advisory fees charged by sub-advisors. Sub-advisors are external managers that are hired by mutual fund managers to give investment advice. The fees that they charge are the product of competitive bidding and arms-length negotiations.
