FTSE & JSE Launch Shareholder And Capped Indices

FTSE and Johannesburg Securities Exchange are pleased to announce the launch of new indices to the FTSE/JSE Africa Index Series. The new indices will be capped and shareholder weighted in response to market demand for South African indices that limit company weightings. This enables investors to contend with risk and regulatory issues caused when a small number of companies form a large portion of the index.

Euronext.liffe: Derivatives On FTSEurofirst See Very Promising Start To Trading

Euronext.liffe today announced a successful first six days' trading in the new FTSEurofirst 80 and 100 futures and options launched last Monday, 23 June. Total volume up to the end of Monday 30 June amounted to over 17,000 contracts, which compares favourably with the launch volumes of competing index futures and options contracts. Average daily volume in the first six days amounted to 1,788 lots for the FTSEurofirst 80 future and 889 lots for the FTSEurofirst 100 futures.

Euronext.Liffe Cocoa Options Post Open Interest Record

Euronext.liffe's Cocoa options contract posted an Open Interest record of 54,907 lots on Friday 27 June, breaking the previous record of 53,376 lots set on 28 February 2003.

Deutsche Börse's XTF segment, Europe's leading platform for trading in exchange-traded funds (ETFs), continues to grow. Three new ETFs on fixed-income indices have been tradable in the XTF segment since Monday.
