NYBOT June Volume Largest Monthly Total In 136-Year History

Trading at the New York Board of Trade® (NYBOT®), the world’s leading “soft” commodity exchange, reached an all-time high during June with 4,541,503 futures and options contracts changing hands – a monthly volume record. The new record surpasses the previous monthly volume high of 4,151,150 contracts established February 2006. The record activity pushed the year-to-date (YTD) total volume for the first half of 2006 25% ahead of the 2005 record numbers.

Minneapolis Grain Exchange Sets Membership And Volume Records

The Minneapolis Grain Exchange (MGEX) announced record membership sales with three sold at $49,000 on July 5. This follows a record month of trading with spring wheat futures trading at a record 169,574 contracts for the month. According to MGEX records, that is the highest June volume and the second highest monthly volume in the Exchange’s 125-year history.

CESR Monitors Self Regulation By Credit Rating Agencies And Announces A Call For Evidence From Market Participants On The Application Of The IOSCO Code Of Conduct

CESR publishes today a questionnaire (Ref. CESR/06-312) addressed to all market participants which will enable CESR to gather information on the day-to-day application of the Credit Rating Agencies (CRAs) codes in practice. The deadline for comments will be 15 August 2006 and if specifically requested, respondents may be able to submit their responses on a confidential basis.
